Bart and Amanda Carver work together in a photography studio owned by Bart’s older brother, Jerry, in the small town of Edenton, North Carolina. 
    

   After the death of Bart and Amanda’s four-year-old daughter, their ten-year marriage suffers a devastating divide. After dealing with their grief in different ways, they reunite and rekindle their love. Bart is steadfast in his love for his wife, and is determined to help her through this difficult time in their lives.
    

   Jerry is an attractive, charismatic, and light-hearted prankster who also aids in Amanda’s recovery through laughter, until the tables turn and his life begins to fall apart. Amanda helps him through his difficulties and slowly a love triangle ensues.
    

   Jerry is continually put into situations where his character is tested by his growing love for Amanda.
